Flight MH370

Ceesie would like to inform you guys that the plane is still not found!!!
It's kind of CRAZY in my eyes.
The Malaysian plane has been gone for over 5 weeks now and they still have no proof of where it could be. How is that possible?! I mean, we can track a little mouse but a huge aircraft is impossible to locate?!
They are even starting to look underwater now. Also the black box has stopped given signals, cause the battery died, so even if we will find the box we'll probably never know what really happened on that MH370 flight.
It's all so bizarre and so confusing to me. Ceesie has been really obsessed with this weird case from the beginning, but now it's just starting to look like a bad Hollywood movie.
I do hope and pray that we will find the plane one day, but I'm starting to think that we never will.

Lets talk about the latest plastic surgery trend in Hollywood, or should I say in the world: FILLERS.
The other day my friend (who is 24) asked me if she should get some fillers… I couldn't believe my ears!
For the ones that don't know what fillers are , filler injections are a cosmetic treatment used to smooth wrinkles or pitted scars in the skin, usually on the face. They can also be used to make the lips fuller.
Not only is the result ugly, they are also dangerous. (They can turn skin blue and lumpy.) I've looked up some fillers gone wrong and I'm telling you, it's not a good look!
They make your face look bloated and fat, at least that's what Ceesie thinks about them.
Yes, you might get rid of your wrinkles , but your face do looks like a watermelon after, I mean… I CANT!
I really wonder why someone would wanna look like a blow fish?
Anyway, here are some before and after pics, you'll see what Ceesie's talking about.

I've been living on and off in NYC for almost 5 years now and this weekend was the first time I went Upstate to Dia Beacon, shame on me. For the ones that don't have a clue what Dia Beacon is, it's a contemporary art museum located 2 hours North from New York.
I'm a huge art lover, especially contemporary art and in the last few months I've decided to open my horizon and learn more about it.
On our way to Dia we stopped at Storm King, an open art museum. It contains the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States and it's incredible.
It's a total must do for everyone who lives in NYC and needs to get a way for a day.
Oh and before Ceesie forgets to tell you, on our way back home we stopped at the Woodbury common outlets and I shopped till I dropped. Celine, Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, Versace, Prada,… name it, they all have their own outlet store! #HEAVEN

Easy peasy split pea soup

Ceesie is obsessed with pea soup these days.
It's so easy to make, healthy and very tasty. You can drink it chilled or hot.

What do we need:
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 big yellow onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped in small pieces
1,5 kg of fresh green split peas (or frozen if you don't find fresh once)
8-10 cups of chicken broth (or 3 cubes of chicken flavored bouillon mixed with water)
2 hands of fresh mint leaves
pepper and salt

Heat up a large soup pot over medium-high heat, heat the oil. Add the onions, season with salt and pepper.
Saute for 2 minutes. Add the peas and the carrots, cook stirring for 1 minute. Add the broth and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes, until the peas and carrots are tender. Add the mint leaves and remove from the heat, let cool slightly.
Mix all the vegetables together until you become a smooth and delicious soup.
Add a little bit more salt and pepper , if needed.

Ceesie loves to add a bit of crispy bacon to it right before serving.
This soup is so good, you'll get addicted to it!

coco super food

For the ones that have been following my blog for quite some time know that Ceesie is OBSESSED with anything coconut.
For the once who don't know: Coconut is in fact a nutritious superfood that is rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. It's incredibly healthy, nourishing and versatile. Coconut is rich in antioxidants, which help to slow down the aging process and protect the body from free radical damage.

Ceesie's favorite is Coconut water. It's rich in electrolytes and potassium and is a much healthier alternative to sports drinks. It's very hydrating (so a great hangover drink!) and refreshing. Ceesie drinks everyday a coconut and it's my secret for great skin.
Lately I also love to cook with coconut oil, it gives a good taste to the food, especially when you cook asian, and it's much healthier than olive oil or butter. (It's incredibly heat stable, so it can be used in cooking at high heat.)
Ceesie also loves coconut butter for the skin. It moisturizes the skin very well and keeps the skin smooth through the entire day and is has a nice scent.
Try it out and you'll see you'll fall in love with the coconut too!

Thai me up

I think I haven't eat as much thai in my life as in the past 5 weeks.
Stir fry, pad thai, papaya salads, red curries, fresh spring rolls,… name it Ceesie loves it!
Here is a delicious recipe from my cookbook MODEL KICTHEN that I love to make myself when I'm hungover. (I think Thai is the best hangover food in the world)
It's super easy to make, healthy and oh so thai yummie.

  • -  1 can coconut milk (14 oz./400 ml)
  • -  2 tablespoons red curry paste
  • -  1 carrot
  • -  1/2 zucchini
  • -  1/2 red pepper
  • -  1/2 yellow pepper
  • -  1 purple onion
  • -  1 clove of garlic
  • -  a piece of fresh ginger
  • -  cilantro
  • -  1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • -  1 Kaffir Lime leaf
  • -  1 tablespoon peanut oil
  • -  pepper and salt

Mince the onion and dice the peppers, carrot and zucchini.
Very finely chop the clove of garlic and grate the ginger.
Heat one tablespoon of peanut oil in a wok and add the curry paste.
Sauté the curry paste together with the grated ginger and garlic to release all the flavors.
Add the diced vegetables to the wok and stir-fry on high heat. Add the can of coconut milk and a tablespoon of fish sauce.
Finally, add the Kaffir Lime leaf to the curry and simmer for another 10 minutes on a low fire.
Season with pepper and salt and serve with a handful of cilantro leaves!
The vegetarian version is shown here, but you can certainly add some chicken or shrimp if you like.

My cookbook MODEL KITCHEN is still available online @ https://www.net-a-porter.com/product/440580
    and ships world wide.

Home is where the pool is

The outdoor swimming pools are everything in Sydney. Not only are they extremely pretty, they are also 50 meters long.
Ceesie is a huge fan of swimming. As a kid my parents forced me to join the swim team in Gent, so I used to go swim at least 3 times a week.
Swimming is one of the best exercises you can do for your body, you use almost every muscle and you burn about 350 calories for 30 minutes of swimming.
Here are 3 of my favorite pools to go to when I'm in Sydney and feel like cooling down from the heat.

overpriced Sydney

Ceesie thought New York was an expensive city to live in, well Sydney is way more expensive. Not only am I talking about rent or public transportation, but just the simple things are way overpriced. Let me give you some examples of things Ceesie bought this week and where he was in shock from:

- A small bottle of water: 3 dollars
- A bag of caramel popcorn: 5.50 dollars
- 1 chicken breast at the butcher: 7 dollars
- 1 Avocado: 4,50 dollar
- A cocktail at a nice bar: 19 dollars
- 1 cinema ticket: 20 dollars
- a pack of gum: 4 dollars
- 1 single bus ticket: 3.90 dollars
and Ceesie can go on and on…
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for stuff but I just hate it when it's overpriced and totally ridiculous. Guess people here make way more money than we do in Europe and the US.

The food in Syndey is divine. I've been here now for 2 weeks and I haven't eaten a morsel of bad food so far. Last night my friend invited me for dinner at NOMAD and it was from another level. This amazing restaurant is located in Surry Hills and is a total must go when you're in Sydney.
The place is cute, modern and cozy all at once and the food, incredible!
At nomad it's all about sharing plates,  something Ceesie loves (cause charing is caring).
We started of with the home made charcuterie plate, a small dish of the tomato bread with anchovies and smoked salmon with a yummy sauce on the side.
For main course we shared fresh squid in black ink and half a chicken with the most amazing cauliflower salad.
After all that it was time for dessert, you have to know that Ceesie is not much of a dessert person, but I did wanna try the deep fried fried bread balls covered in sugar and cinnamon with a vanilla dip sauce on the side - and I am so happy I made that decision, it was honestly the best thing I have ever tasted in my life. Maybe not that model kitchen friendly, but it was for sure worth the calories.
Nomad, you were GREAT!

If you had told me 2 years ago that I would have bought a pair of Birkenstocks sandals I would have cried from laughing and screamed NEVER!
But I guess fashion has put his spell on Ceesie. I don't like to call myself a fashion victim, but maybe I am?
After the major fashion brands , Celine and Givenchy, made replicas of the famous German sandals they are all of a sudden back in style and hotter than ever before.
Ceesie always thought that Birkenstocks were for tree huggers or Granola people ( you know what I mean with that right?)
Well anyway, I love my organic looking sandals  and I have to say they are very comfy and the best buy for my summer in Sydney.

Back down under

Ceesie is back in Syndey and is loving it. There is something about this place that is just so amazing. I've been here now for the 3th time and I have to say it keeps impressing me in so many ways: the food, the people, the beaches, the atmosphere.
Another thing Ceesie truly loves out here are the Aussies themselves. I have the feeling that Australians are the nicest and most social people in the world. In the last few days I have met so many new people and have been hanging out with these new "friends" that I barely know. They're showing me around, taking care of me and making sure I feel at home.
Ceesie will be here for about a month and hopes to have some great times, new adventures, work and unforgettable memories.

Here are some of Ceesie's favorite looks from the past fashion week:

Jan 16, 2014

Ceesie went to two amazing movie premieres last week.
The first one was "Yves Saint Laurent".
Ceesie has always been a huge fan of monsieur Saint Laurent. I've read a few biographies and saw the documentary "l'amour fou", so I was very exited to see this movie.
YSL is a biopic about the iconic fashion designer, it gives you a look of the French designer from the beginning of his career in 1958 till his death.
The movie is made very well, It was very pretty in every way and the acting was just incredible.
A must see for everyone who wants to know more about Yves Saint Laurent's life.

The other movie I saw was "The wolf of wall street".
Ceesie LOVES Martin Scorsesse. I think he is one of the best directors ever!
(Casino and Goodfellas are both my all time favorites)
So before going to see his latest movie I made sure I read the book and went to see his expo that is now showing in my hometown Gent, which is great by the way.
Eventhough I really liked the movie, I don't think it is his best one. (maybe my expectation were too high)
I things the movie is a bit too long and a little bit over the top. (too much drugs and too much sex to be honest)
BUT Leo did play a great role and Ceesie really hopes he will finally get his well deserved Oscar.

Jan 7, 2014

2014 had begun and I'm pretty exited about it.
Not that 2013 wasn't a great year, but Ceesie is ready for something new, fresh and exiting.
I want this year to be a year full of LOVE, CHANGES and UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES.
Lets all start the year healthy and lets make sure that our new years resolutions will last longer than 2 weeks.
