Models?

Fashion week is almost over for my fellow colleagues.
I have to say that I liked a lot of the collections this season and Ceesie can honestly not wait to go shopping and get some of his favorite pieces in his closet.
But on this blog post I wanna talk about the models, or should I call them Models with a question mark? Lets say it this way, Ceesie has seen some 'interesting' faces walking down the runway this past season.
I have the feeling that you no longer have to be pretty to walk in a fashion show. Or even better, maybe you have to look weird, extremely skinny or am I allowed to use the word ugly?
Don't get me wrong, Ceesie doesn't mean it in a bad way, I'm just questioning this new 'trend'.
Here are a few of the 'models' that made me wonder if they really should be called models or...

  3. Everybody can say it's rude and pathetic and ...
but you have courage to say something abour this 'trend'. It is much difficulter for you to write this than for an 'Anonymous' to write lame en pathetic. It is a very difficult topic.
And I had also noted this trend en you're right!

Sorry for spelling mistakes or I don't know what mistake but english isn't my official language but I wanted that everybody understood this comment !

  4. It's kinda funny, a pretty boy complaining about ugly people modeling clothes. But come on, it's not like fashion is of major importance or anything.

  5. Absolutly, you're right...

Men's fashion has never seen so many uglier faces then this past fashion week.
I can't call them models cause they'are not!

Just found some synonyms to redifine "Ugly".

So it's about something Disfigured or Fugly, Hideous or Repulsive, Ill-favored or Ill-favoured,
and of course Unlovely, Unpicturesque or Unsightly.

  6. I think it's more about the mood they want to set... Ugly yes... But they create the mood/feeling of the collection. Ugly people will buy it too! Am I making a point?

  9. You're right. many desingers use wierd lookin and thinner and thinner models (like in the pictures). Lanvin and (Y)SL are good examples. I miss Lanvin few seasons back when they had this fresh, boyish, chic, young style. Now it's just wierd.

Thank god we still have guys like Arthur Gosse, Taylor Cowan, Francisco Lachowski, Alexander Ferrario, Guerrino Santulliana, James Smith, Clement Chabernaud, Linus Gustin doing catwalks and YOU of course ;)

  13. Isn't modelling supposed to be how yoy carry the clothes? I mean it's whole lot different if you're a cover model/editorial modeling or whatever you call it.

  15. To me, fashion shows, particularly menswear has always been about sharp images and undeniable beauty. I mean I know you often have the odd balls who go for the more avant looks on the runways, but for the most part you turn to menswear fashion shows expecting larger than life beauty.
I completely agree with your question mark and hope that this trend dies quickly. Ugly people do not make me want to buy the clothing any more nor do they intrigue me, they distract from what is being shown. Period.
    Chin up Ceesie, you're fabulous.

  16. Personally i agree that this tendention is getting bigger. The pictures you shown us is just a small example. They look unhealthy which is unsexy and unatractive look.Gorgeous people and clothes should be the "must look" on runway shows.

  19. I don't think any of them are ugly, if you stop to take a second look (yeah the second one has weird ears+forehead but that's just the hairstyle.)

They just have strong features and don't fit the 'classic' aka preppy+all-american, or strong jaw+full lips 'pretty boy' molds. If the 'in' female model look is to be thinner than ever, why can't the trend for guys also be super-lean? More diversity is always good.

Actually, I think the last two are really attractive.

  20. Euh, If they model, they're models. These guys are modelling. And they are not ugly. What is your point? Oh, I get it: only you're prototype is allowed in 'the special club'? Not cool.Their aestetics is off the regular beat but certainly interesting.

  22. Big Up Cesar. Denk dat je volledig gelijk hebt. Werd tijd dat dit topic wat aandacht krijgt. Slecht signaal naar jonge mensen. En dan praat ik niet over of zo mooi zijn of niet (in dit geval niet) maar zo mager... Erover

  24. Just because you don't get a lot of casting with your " I am a Californian Abercrobrie and Fitch from the 90s" face mean you can judge other models.

Seriously ? Desingers challenge the definition of beauty and sorry if it does bother your little boring standards. Would you ever post a picture of your bestie Hanne-Gaby with her forehead that is gigantic ? No, because she is your friend but she is also a weird model.

    What a stupid post....

  27. I'm quite sad for the super-skinny guys who are obviously very unhealthy.

  28. you are right, the lanvin dudes are damn fucking unsightly. The SLP guy's body is just comically out of proportion-skinny, not chic. The 2nd SLP guy is cute though!! But too emaciated as per hedi slimane's preference :/
